The Yoga 710 has a slim and lightweight body and its design is great. This is an ultrabook, thanks to its light weight and thin body made of magnesium andaluminum. It comes with displays from 11.6 inch, with full HD, to 15 inch, so everbody's needs are covered. It display is the first thing you will notice: colors are well-defined, it show a crystal clear picture, and maybe the only downside would be the brightness that could be a big better. But, the overall feel is very good.
The 11.6-inch version may seem too small but you have to see it live: The keyboard is very good and the overall look and feel is not so far away from other 13-inch laptops. There is 360-degree hinge you can find on other Yoga products and it enables you to fold the screen back all the way back into tablet mode or any angle you want. If you need a "proper laptop," you may use it like that, and if the occasion demands, you can use it as a tablet. Very, very nice.
The touchscreen display works great, its sensitivity is good and it simply calls for the tablet mode. The Yoga 710 keyboard is low-profile and it's very nice for typing, and that's something we expect from Lenovo. The trackpad is large enough and it features physical click feedback when pressed. The speakers are the weakest point of this laptop and they'll make you want using your headphones every time you depend on the sound. But, this is not a boom box so we can live with that.
The Yoga 710 comes with a lot of Lenovo applications on it, as well as trials of some other software. You get Lenovo CCSDK, Lenovo Companion 3.0, Lenovo Experience Improvement, Lenovo ID, Lenovo Photo Master, Lenovo REACHit, Lenovo Settings 3.0, Lenovo SHAREit, Lenovo OneKey Recovery, and Lenovo Solution Center. In addition, the laptop comes with a trial of McAfee LiveSafe and a trial of Microsoft Office 365. All in all, a very interesting ultrabook to take a look at if you need something powerful yet small. ■
