Sporting Intel's sixth generation Skylake processor, the Yoga 900 of Lenovo comes with a rotating hinge, following the philosophy of Yoga 3. With a screen that rotates 360 degrees, it is one of the most interesting 2-in-1 convertibles.

The Yoga 900 comes in a silver metal shell but any similarity with other computers (who said MacBook?) end when you take a look at the rear of the Yoga 900 and its unique hinge. On Yoga 3 Pro the hinge rotates the screen 360 degrees and convert the laptop to a tablet. The hinge has been improved and it conceals a rear-facing fan, allowing hot air to escape out the back instead of down your lap. If you are using the laptop on your lap, you will appreciate that. Very much.
Internally, heat management is controlled by a new metal alloy fan design, which Lenovo claims is 66% more efficient and 30% better at cooling than its predecessors. This is a nice addition over the previous version because Intel Core i series processor needs a cit better heating than previous M series processor. The watchband hinge gives the laptop a premium feel. Lenovo also offers the Yoga 900 in clementine orange, platinum silver and champagne gold.
At 2.84 pounds (1.29kg), the Yoga 900 is light for an Ultrabook but some will say it is too heavy for tablet. While it's true that you can't separate the keyboard and the screen, and that because of that the Yoga 900 is heaving in the tablet mode, we think that's not too much and that some people just need an excuse to find something less than perfect. In short, Yoga is light and if you have a problem with you most probably need to visit a gym more often.
The 0.59-inch thickness places the Yoga 900 among the slimmest devices out there, the 13.3-inch QHD+ resolution (3,200 X 1,800 pixels) displays text and images crisply, and the Yoga has a 16:9 aspect ratio which is quite usual these days. Lenovo covered the keyboard deck with a smooth textured faux leather material. There is a full-sized backlit keyboard and the large trackpad does its job in a satisfactory way. With its 2.5GHz Intel Core i7-6500U and 16GM of memory, Yoga is definitively among the best convertibles on the market. ■
