Navman is a name synonymous with GPS navigation across the globe. A brand owned by MiTAC International Corporation, Navman continues to pioneer navigation technology. S70 3D is one of the best devices we saw: the 3D graphics is very well displayed on 4.3 inch widescreen display. The new Navman has pre-installed detailed maps - 3D landmarks - of more than six million miles of streets throughout 21 Western European countries.
The intelligent new Local Search service connects the S70 3D to the Local Search network via Bluetooth, giving local information on interesting places to visit, shops and services, hotels and restaurants and much more, wherever you are. Bluetooth hands-free calling makes the S70 3D the smart choice for business as well as personal use.
Using the built-in NavPix technology, you can download and navigate to pictures and the intelligent Day/Night display makes the S70 3D even easier on the eyes. Pre-installed Safety Camera data makes driving safer and Route Traffic overview gives you an updated snapshot of your entire route, including any hold-ups on the road ahead.
S70 3D weights 171 grams and its dimensions are very good for such device: 77.6 x 134.8 x 19.4 mm. The hearth of the new 3D GPS is processor Samsung 2443 ticking on 400MHz, with 512 megabytes of internal Flash memory and 64MB SDRAM. The memory can be expanded with SD/MMC memory cards, and rechargeable integrated Li-ION battery-up will suffice for up to 3 hours, depending on usage, of course.
The colour display is - what else? - touch screen with the resolution 480 x 272 pixels and, maybe the most important detail, with great picture quality. Software is 2nd edition of SmartST 2008 and there's also an option for Safety Camera Data, but that's a free trial. Bluetooth is here, too, as well as hands-free calling.
You can navigate to pictures, do some local search via Navdesk and Bluetooth, set places of interest, and enjoy voice-guided instructions. There are options for multiple route, 8-digit postcode search, navigation views and route summary. Regional maps are pre-installed, so all you must do is to sit in the car and go for a ride.
