Our friends in America have one more in a bunch and that's the new model of Casio. The newest member of Exilim line is Exilim Zoom EX-Z9. The most interesting thing here is 8.1 megapixel of image resolution, supported by 3x optical zoom. So, what else our friends will get for $159.99 or something like that? Well, first thing to notice is a case in one of four colours (black, silver, orange, pink), and the next thing you'll notice is large 2.6-inch wide LCD display. The good thing ("For you", says Vesna) is Anti Shake DSP, a chip that takes a blurry picture from shaky hands and turns it into crisp and sharp digital image.

Easy Mode you'll use to take pictures when you're in a hurry and have no time to check plenty of options. And if you engage Face Detection Technology it will make portraits even better. "You could use Thumb Detection Technology", my gentle part interrupts me, reminding me of my habit of having my thumb on every picture I took. OK, I got carried away...

Exilim Zoom EX-Z9 can record pictures in JPEG format, and motion pictures it stores in MPEG, AVI, and IMA-ADPCM, while audio is mono in WAV format. What you record will be stored onto 18.6MB built-in flash memory, or you can use SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card, MMC, and MMC plus. So, what every you have, grab it and put it inside, Exilim will be happy with it.

Where there are pictures of any kind, there's a resolution, to. Thus having spoke, the resolution are from pity 640x480 to generous 3264x2448 pixels, and everything in-between. Talking about movies, you can record it in 320x240 (called Long Play), 640 x 480 (called Normal) and 848 x 480 pixels (so called HQ Wide).

Exilim Zoom EX-Z9 has 8.29 megapixel on 1/2.5-inch square pixel CCD. Focal length is approximately 37.5 - 112.5mm equivalent to 35mm film, and along with 3x optical zoom there's also a 4x digital zoom, which gives us total of 12x. Impressive. ("Impressive thumb, isn't it?" You know who said that...)

You'll be able to take some sport pictures because shutter speed range from 1/2 to 1/2000 second, and for the night scene 4 to 1/2000 second. A flash is here, too, its charging time is 7 seconds, and what you shoot will be displayed on very nice LCD with resolution 479x240 pixels. To know where you are, better to say: when you are, there is a built-in clock with world time of 162 cities in 32 time zones.

The new Exilim looks very durable and its auto calendar supports that: It goes up to year 2049. Plenty of time to shoot every thumb on Earth and further. <
