Sell car, buy Dan D'Agostino Momentum
The Momentum combines the core audio circuits of the Momentum preamplifier and the Momentum stereo amplifier. The front panel has the same look and functionality as the Momentum preamplifier, with an illuminated dial and indicator needles inspired by classic Swiss watches. The whole device was made so good and feels so well, it is clear at the first sight that it is worth every dollar and then some. The craftsmanship is absolutely excellent.
Six balanced XLR inputs are provided on the back panel. Bypassable tone controls allow the listener to customize the sound to suit the recording or personal taste, without affecting the fundamental sound quality and musicality of the unit. The amplifier section is rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms. The Momentum is able to deliver excellent sound into any loudspeaker you are willing to connect to it.
A completely separate power supply, encased in a chassis machined from solid aluminum billet, isolates the sensitive audio circuitry from electromagnetic interference. From the very first moment, it is obvious that D'Agostino made a spectacular job. Yes, the word has its weight, but it is true. Connect it, turn it on, and fill it with any music you want - you will get a beautiful audio picture, well-defined, with technology absolutely serving music, without any interference.
If you're interested, here are some numbers: power is defined as 200 watts @ 8Ω, 400 watts @ 4Ω; and 800 watts @ 2Ω. Frequency Response is 0.1 Hz to 200 kHz, -1 dB; and 20Hz to 20 kHz, ±0 dB. Distortion at 200 watts @ 8 Ω is < 0.1%; 20 Hz to 20 kHz. There are 6 stereo balanced XLR inputs with input impedance of 1 MΩ. Dan D'Agostino Momentum is one of the finest amplifiers we saw, the device that brings the excitement of listening back. This is an amplifier without compromise. ■
