While virtually all electronic devices tends to be as small as possible, and sometimes even smaller, consumers expect bigger and bigger TVs. That presents a true challenge for proverbial Japanese shrink-everything society.
So, being unable to cut down weight and height, Sharp's engineers made the world thinnest LCD TV. It is a new model in Sharp's AQUOS series of LCD TV. There are three models that deserve to be called the thinnest one: 34.4 millimetres (for our American friends 1.35-inch) at its thinnest part.
The AQUOS series of TVs is designed not just for the viewing pleasure, but also with efficiency and ecology at mind. AQUOS has low-reflection screen which mean that you don't need to pay attention where are the lamps in your room. High contrast ratio brings black that are truly black, Quick Shoot Technology means that you will not see a blurred image of moving objects. And Sharp's new color system brings view clear and vivid colors. There is no lead in electronics, the manuals are printed on recycled paper and non-halogen material is used in cabinet production. All that is good not only for the nature but also for your health.
The top model of the AQUOS LCD TVs is the 46V model. Sharp introduced it's first AQUOS TV in 2001 and now the technology is matured. Consumers that are seeking not only for larger screen size, but are also looking for models that offer thinner profiles now have reason to be satisfied. 46V AQUOS has the resolution off 1920 x 1080 pixels, contrast is 2000:1, and viewing angles are 176 degrees vertical and 176 degrees horizontal. The new Sharpe's TV has a dynamic contrast of 15000:1 and refresh rate of 120 MHZ, and 12-with BDE color rendering system for smooth colors. The Sharp's engineers made a tuner section independent of TV and that is good decision that affects design and usability.
There are plenty of input and output convectors and among them are DVI, HDMI, FireWire and Ethernet. The sound will come to you through 8-speaker system that delivers 20W.
The new Sharp AQUOS will hit the Japanese market on March 1, while the rest of the world will have to wait... The price is not announced but, frankly, I don't give a damn. The new Sharp's TV is a fantastic TV but it is also a fashion statement for your home or office - it may very well replace a painting on the wall. And we buy paintings regardless of the price. ■
