Toronto, ON, Canada - November 27, 2009, Toronto, ON, Canada - Gabriel Resources Ltd., a mining company, reports that Alan R. Hill, Britt D. Banks and Randy Engel are stepping down from the Board of Directors effective immediately, while CFO and General Counsel will be leaving the company within the next four months.

Alan R. Hill has had a lengthy and varied career in the mining business. Most recently Mr. Hill was the President & CEO of Gabriel until he retired in March 2009. Prior to joining Gabriel, he was the Executive Vice President, Development of Barrick Gold Corporation before retiring from that position in September, 2003. Mr. Hill managed the development of Barrick's four latest projects: Alto Chicama, Pascua, Valedero and Cowal.
In addition, Mr. Hill managed the development of Barrick's Goldstrike, Pierina and Bulyanhulu projects, with both Bulyanhulu and Pierina being brought into production on schedule and under budget. Before joining Gabriel as its President on May 10, 2005 he was an independent mining consultant. Mr. Hill received his B.Sc. in Mining Engineering as well as a postgraduate degree in rock mechanics from the University of Leeds. Mr. Hill is a member of the Technical Committee.
Britt D. Banks is Executive Vice President, Legal and External Affairs of Newmont Mining Corporation. He served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel from 2005 to 2006 and as Vice President and General Counsel from 2001 to 2005. He served as Secretary from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, he served as Associate General Counsel from 1996 to 2001.
Mr. Banks joined Newmont in 1993 from the law firm of Holland & Hart, where he practiced for four years. He served as a law clerk to the Hon. Oliver Seth, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and is a member of the Colorado State Bar. He earned a law degree from the University of Colorado, where he was the articles editor for the University of Colorado Law Review. Mr. Banks joined the Gabriel Board in June 2008 and is a member of the Compensation, Corporate Governance and Government Relations and Sustainability Committees.
Randy Engel is Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development assuming the responsibility for Corporate Development, Treasury, Investor Relations and Strategic Planning at Newmont Mining Corporation. Mr. Engel has been with Newmont since 1994, and has served in various capacities in the areas of business planning, corporate treasury and human resources.
Mr. Engel holds a Master's of Science in Finance earned from the University of Denver, and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado. Mr. Engel joined the Gabriel Board in June 2008 and is a member of the Audit and Finance Committees.
Separately, the Company announced that Richard Young and Frank Wheatley, Gabriel's Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel respectively, will be leaving within the next four months to pursue other interests.
Richard Young brings extensive financial, mine development and capital markets experience to Gabriel. In his 13-year career at Barrick Gold Corporation, Mr. Young held a number of progressively senior positions in the finance group as well as being involved in mine development activities primarily with the Goldstrike and Pierina projects.
Most recently he was the Vice President of Investor Relations for Barrick where he was responsible for the development and execution of its investor relations strategy. In addition to his duties as CFO, Mr. Young will also oversee investor relations at Gabriel. Mr. Young received his BA in economics from University of Western Ontario in 1987, a graduate diploma in Public Accountancy from McGill University in 1989 and his Chartered Accountants designation in 1990.
Frank Wheatley is responsible for all of Gabriel's legal matters including regulatory compliance, public financings and corporate governance issues. In addition, he oversees all Romanian legal matters with the assistance of local counsel. As Secretary to the Board of Directors of Gabriel he participates in all board and committee meetings. ■
