Rome, Italy – Alitalia, an air company, annouces the resignation of Andrea Ragnetti as CEO of Alitalia and Air One as well as managing director of Alitalia.[break]
Mr. Ragnetti has been CEO of Alitalia – Compagnia Aerea Italiana S.p.A since March 2012.
After graduating in Political Science at Perugia University, he began working at Procter & Gamble, initially in Rome and then in Lisbon where he remained until 1993, before starting work with Benckiser in Paris. In 1998, he entered Telecom Italia as Chief Marketing Officer.
In January 2003, Mr. Ragnetti became Chief Marketing Officer of Philips, with responsibility for all Philips marketing and branding activities worldwide. In April 2005, he was named Chief Executive Officer of Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care. In April 2006, he also became a member of the Board of Directors.
In 2007, Mr. Ragnetti was named Chairman and CEO of Philips Consumer Lifestyle, one of the three sectors into which the Dutch company is organized. He covered this position until September 2010. In February 2012, he joined Alitalia as General Manager and in March he was appointed CEO.
Until the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors have granted interim power to the Chairman of Alitalia, Roberto Colaninno.
Since January 2009, Mr. Colaninno has been Chairman of Alitalia – Compagnia Aerea Italiana S.p.A – the main airline in Italy. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Piaggio & C. S.p.A and Chairman of IMMSI S.p.A, an industrial and property services holding that controls the Piaggio Group. After his early experiences in Italian auto components maker Fiaam, of which he became Chief Executive Officer, in 1981 he founded the Sogefi company.
In 1996 Mr. Colaninno was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Olivetti and in 1999 he led the company in a public tender offer for Telecom Italia, which was the largest take over bid ever made in Italy at that time. Olivetti acquired approximately 51% of Telecom Italia and Mr. Colaninno was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company, as well as Chairman of TIM – Telecom Italia Mobile.
In September 1998 he established Omniaholding S.p.A, the family – owned financial company of which is Chairman. In 2002 he joined other partners to form Omniainvest S.p.A, a holding in which Omniaholding currently owns the majority.
