Mr. Skarpelos is an investor with 17 years of experience working with private and public companies. For the past 10 years, he has been focused on biotechnology companies involved in drug discovery and drug development projects. Mr. Skarpelos was engaged as a consultant to Anavex Life Sciences for one year and his experience has led to relationships with researchers at academic institutes in Europe and North America. Mr. Skarpelos is a founder of Anavex Life Sciences, and is its largest shareholder.
The company also announced that Robert Chisholm has terminated his agreement, and resigned as President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, and as a Director of Anavex.
Serving as the company's Chief Financial Officer and as a director, Mr. Chisholm is a veteran finance and administration executive with more than 25 years of experience. He has significant expertise in corporate finance, strategic business initiatives and the unique requirements of growth-oriented public companies.
Mr. Chisholm has been the Chief Financial Officer and a director of both Savary Capital and OMT, a member of the Board of Directors of Rare Earth Industries, and he is currently the Chief Financial Officer of TMT Resources and Ripper Oil and Gas. Mr. Chisholm is also the Chief Financial Officer and a partner of Emprise Capital, he aslso served as CFO for PNI Digital Media (formerly PhotoChannel Networks) and subsequently joined its Board of Directors as the Chairman of its audit committee.
Mr. Chisholm's background includes previous appointments as CFO and/or director for Chantrell Ventures (formerly Tiger Pacific Mining), Windamere Ventures (formerly Advanced Vision Systems), Brookwater Ventures, Ocean Park Ventures and SCS Solars Computing Systems. He holds a professional accounting designation and received his BBA with a major in accounting from Saint Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.
The company also announced that Sean Lowry resigned as a Director of Anavex. ■
