Aviva announces new leadership in Ireland

London, United Kingdom - July 19, 2013, London, United Kingdom - Aviva plc, an insurance company, has appointed Alison Burns as chief executive officer of Aviva Ireland.

Ms. Burns has been Interim Managing Director of Aviva Ireland Health Insurance since August 2012. Over the last year Ms. Burns has worked closely with industry figures and other stakeholders in the Irish insurance market.

Ms. Burns has extensive experience in the insurance industry in the UK where she worked in a variety of senior roles in Santander, Lloyds Banking Group, Bupa and Axa. With a track record of delivering results with a real customer focus, she has worked in life, health and general insurance. She replaces Seán Egan who stepped down earlier this year for health reasons.

Ms. Burns' first appointment is John Quinlan as Managing Director of Aviva’s General Insurance business in Ireland.
