Denver, Co., USA - August 27, 2012, Denver, Co., USA - Axion Health, a clinical software company, announced that it has named Thomas E. Carson as the new president and CEO.

Mr. Carson has more than 15 years in the healthcare technology industry, most recently as CEO of MD-IT, a Colorado-based medical documentation company he founded. Prior to MD-IT, Mr. Carson served as CFO of Access Graphics, a computer products distribution company, and he also currently serves as a Director of MIQS, an EMR provider focused on the dialysis market.
The company also announced that Lee S. Newman, one of the founders of Axion Health and its CEO since 2004, has been named Chief Medical Information Officer.
Mr. Newman is one of the nation's leading experts in the fields of occupational and environmental medicine and pulmonary medicine. He is Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health at the Colorado School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Science and Critical Care Medicine and Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, School of Medicine, at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus.
Mr. Newman is the Founding Director of the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center (MAP ERC), a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-funded Center that trains occupational and environmental health professionals. He conducts research and teaches medical students, graduate students and post-doctoral trainees, and he has published more than 250 scientific papers.
Mr. Newman has consulted large and small corporations and government agencies including the US Department of Energy (DOE) and its contractors, the US Department of Labor, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institues of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ■
