Peoria, Ill., USA - December 10, 2010, Peoria, Ill., USA - Caterpillar Inc., a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, announced that Jesse J. Greene, Jr. and Miles D. White have been elected to the Caterpillar Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2011.

Mr. Greene is currently the Chief Financial Risk Officer for International Business Machines Corporation ("IBM") where he has worked for approximately 30 years, including a variety of senior positions in finance. He also has acquired senior financial and information technology experience from positions with Compaq Computer Corporation and the Eastman Kodak Company.
Mr. Greene serves as Vice President of Financial Management and Chief Financial Risk Officer at International Business Machines Corp. He was Vice President of International Business Machines Corporation since 2002 and Treasurer and Vice President of IBM Credit LLC.
He served as Vice President and Treasurer of International Business Machines Corporation (IBM Corporation) since 2002. He joined IBM in 2002. Mr. Greene served with Compaq Computer Corp. (now a part of Hewlett-Packard Company), as Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer from April 2000 to 2002. He worked with Compaq for two years.
Prior to Compaq Computer Corp., Mr. Greene served as Corporate Senior Vice President and Director of Business Strategy and Information Technology for Eastman Kodak Company. Mr. Greene served as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer at Kodak. Prior to Kodak, Mr. Greene spent 23 years at IBM in a variety of financial positions including Assistant Treasurer. He served as Director of IBM Credit LLC.
Mr. White has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Abbott Laboratories since 1998 and as its Chairman since 1999. He joined Abbott in 1984 and held a number of senior positions with increasing responsibility prior to being named CEO.
Mr. White joined Abbott in 1984, was named chief executive officer in 1998 and became chairman of the board in 1999. He currently serves as a director of McDonald’s Corporation and the Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He serves as Chairman of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, the Dean’s Advisory Board at Kellogg School of Management, and The Culver Educational Foundation.
He is former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, The Economic Club of Chicago, and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). Mr. White earned both a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in business administration from Stanford University. ■
