Clifford Chance appoints new leadership for Global Antitrust Group
Mr. Vinje, who is based in Brussels, will take on the title of Chair of the Global Antitrust Practice, with a focus on the group's overall strategy and high level leadership, with a particular emphasis on the US and Asia. Mr. Vinje has worked across a host of major antitrust matters, including merger clearance for Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems and Nokia's acquisition of Symbian as well as successfully representing major IT industry associations pursuing Microsoft for market dominance.
Mr. Bretz will take on the role of Managing Partner of the Global Antitrust Practice, with a focus on oversight and delivery of the group's global growth strategy. Mr. Bretz, who will also spend a significant portion of his time in Brussels, was recently appointed the Firm's Head of Public Policy in the EU, bringing together legal and policy expertise to advise clients on a wide range of legislative and regulatory developments emanating from the European Union and national Governments.
Mr. Vinje and Mr. Bretz will work hand in hand with leading figures within Clifford Chance's global antitrust practice, including Michel Petite, formerly Director-General of the Legal Service of the European Commission, Bill Blumenthal, formerly General Counsel to the US Federal Trade Commission and Alex Nourry, head of the London European Competition and Regulation group. ■
