Consol Energy appoints Nicholas J. DeIuliis as CEO

Pittsburgh, Pa., USA - May 9, 2014, Pittsburgh, Pa., USA - Consol Energy Inc., an energy company, announced that Nicholas J. DeIuliis has assumed the position of president and chief executive officer.

In addition, Mr. DeIuliis was elected to CONSOL Energy's Board of Directors. He has served as President of CONSOL Energy since February 2011. He has more than 23 years of experience with the company, with both the coal and E&P divisions of the business, and in that time has held positions of Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning.

Mr. DeIuliis was also President and Chief Executive Officer of CNX Gas Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange-listed company, from its creation in 2005 through 2009.

Former Chief Executive Officer, J. Brett Harvey, took the new position of Executive Chairman.

Mr. Harvey has been CONSOL Energy's Chief Executive Officer since January 1998 and served as President from January 1998 through February 2011. He has also been a director of CONSOL since January 1998 and on June 29, 2010 was appointed Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Harvey has also been a director of CNX Gas, CONSOL Energy's wholly-owned subsidiary, since June 30, 2005 and has served as chairman of the CNX Gas Board since January 2009. He was also elected to the position of chief executive officer of CNX Gas in January 2009.

Mr. Harvey is a member of the coal industry advisory board of the International Energy Agency, National Mining Association board member and is a member of the Leadership Council of the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity. He is a member of the board of directors of Barrick Gold Corporation, where he serves on the compensation committee. He was elected lead director of Barrick in December 2013.
