New York, N.Y., USA - Coty Inc., a beauty company, announced the retirement of OPI founder and CEO George Schaeffer.

Since founding OPI in 1981, Mr. Schaeffer has built one of the beauty industry's most iconic and successful nail care brands. He founded OPI Products Inc. in 1981 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Schaeffer founded Schaeffer Family Foundation. He served as the President of OPI Products Inc. until August 27, 2012. He worked for odontorium products Inc., north hollywood, CA, from 1981 to 1994.
He served as Principal, Rosemarie mfg co, new york, ny from 1968 to 1982. He served as Secretary and Treasurer of Manufacturers Leadership Council of Professional Beauty Association and member of its Governing Council. He supported Professional Beauty Industry. He serves as Chairman and founding member of Nail Manufacturers Council, and his mission is to advance Professional Nail Care Industry in legislative and regulatory matters.
Mr. Schaeffer also worked in garment industry manufacturing lingerie and sportswear. He serves as Directors of Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association and International Nail Industry Federation of Japan. He served as member of Board of Directors of American Beauty Association and founding member of Professional Beauty Federation.
Mr. Schaeffer holds graduation from City College of New York. He will continue to work with OPI's management team through a newly created role as OPI's strategic board advisor.
Coty has appointed Mary van Praag to General Manager of OPI, effective January 1, 2014, replacing John Heffner, who has left the organization to pursue other career interests.
Ms. van Praag had successfully led Coty's mass channel sales organization in the U.S. for three years, after which she was promoted to her current role managing Coty's business in Canada. She has been instrumental in turning Coty Canada's mass channel business around as well as building and developing a stronger organization. ■
