Lexington, Mass., USA - July 3, 2012, Lexington, Mass., USA - Cubist Pharmaceuticals announced that Robert J. Perez, executive vice president and chief operating officer, has been named president and COO.

Mr. Perez, M.B.A. has served as the company's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since August 2007. Prior to this, he was Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations since July 2004. From August 2003 to July 2004 he served as Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing.
Prior to joining Cubist, Mr. Perez served as Vice President of Biogen's CNS Business Unit where he was responsible for leading the U.S. neurology franchise. From 1995 to 2001 he served as a Regional Director, Director of Sales, and Avonex Commercial Executive at Biogen. From 1987 to 1995, Mr. Perez held various sales and marketing positions at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, ultimately serving as Regional Business Director, responsible for sales, marketing and the Western Regional Business Unit.
Mr. Perez is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Citizen School of Massachusetts, a director of the Biomedical Science Careers Program (BSCP), and AMAG Pharmaceuticals, and the Biomedical Enterprise Program, a graduate degree program that is jointly administered by the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Mr. Perez received a B.S. from California State University, Los Angeles and an M.B.A. from The Anderson School at UCLA.
The company also announced that Michael Tomsicek, Vice President of Corporate Finance has been named Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Financial Officer, and Thomas Rollins has been appointed Senior Vice President of Program and Portfolio Management.
Mr. Tomsicek joined Cubist in 2010. Prior to Cubist, he spent eight years at General Electric Healthcare, initially as global operations Finance Manager for its Monitoring business, and then as CFO of its diagnostic ultrasound business and CFO of its global ultrasound product group. Previously, Mr. Tomsicek served in a variety of financial and channel management roles at Motorola. ■
