Luxembourg - October 30, 2012, Luxembourg - CVC Capital Partners (CVC), a private equity and investment advisory firm, announced that CVC's chairman, Michael Smith will retire in January 2013.

Mr. Smith joined CVC in 1982 and became Managing Director in 1986. He is currently a member of the European and Asia Pacific Investment Committees. Prior to joining CVC, he was employed in senior management roles in the US and UK. Mr. Smith holds a BA Degree in Business Administration and an MBA from Loyola University, Chicago, US. He will be succeeded by Donald Mackenzie, Rolly van Rappard and Steve Koltes who will act as co-chairmen of the group.
Mr. Mackenzie, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, joined CVC from 3i Plc in 1988. He is a member of the European and Asia Pacific Investment Committees. Mr. Mackenzie is a Chartered Accountant and holds an LLB Degree from the University of Dundee, Scotland.
Mr. van Rappard, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, joined CVC in 1989, having previously worked for Citicorp Corporate Finance in London and Amsterdam. He is a member of the European and Asia Pacific Investment Committees. Mr. van Rappard holds an MA Degree in Economics from Columbia University, New York, and an LLM from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Mr. Koltes, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, joined CVC London in 1988. Previously, he established the Citibank Mezzanine Finance department in London and worked for Citibank in the Corporate Finance and Corporate Banking departments in London, Zurich and New York. He is a member of the European Investment Committee and the Asia Pacific Investment Committee. Mr. Koltes holds a BA Degree from Middlebury College, Vermont. He will assume Mr. Smith's responsibilities for Investor Relations, working closely with Marc St John and Nick Archer.
Donald Mackenzie will chair the group board meetings and continue as chairman of the Investment and Portfolio Committees. Rolly van Rappard will continue to chair the two private equity boards (Europe/North America and Asia Pacific) that are responsible for the day to day management of the private equity businesses.
CVC also announced the appointment of Rob Squire as Senior Managing Director within the investor relations team. ■
