Stuttgart, Germany - Daimler AG appointed Ola Källenius as member of the board of management responsible for group research and Mercedes-Benz cars development, effective from January 1, 2017.

Mr. Källenius has been a member of the Board of Management at Daimler AG since January 1, 2015 and is responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales. He joined the company in 1993 and has run through various stations within the group since that time.
Prior to his appointment to the Board of Management of Daimler AG, he was Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-AMG GmbH as well as President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc., Tuscaloosa (USA).
After attending school and obtaining Abitur (university entrance examination) at Grammar School of Danderyd (Sweden), he attained Master’s degree in “International Management†and “Finance and Accounting†at the Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden) and at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland). He joined the then Daimler-Benz AG as Trainee within the International Management Associate Program in 1993.
Previous positions in the company include: Member of the Divisional Board, Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales, Daimler AG, 2013; Vice President, Managing Director, Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Affalterbach, 2010; Vice President, President & CEO, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc., Tuscaloosa (USA), 2009; and Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines Ltd., Brixworth (Great Britain), 2005.
He also served as Executive Director, Operations, McLaren Automotive Ltd., Woking (Great Britain), 2003; Director, Project Alliance, Procurement Mercedes-Benz PKW, DaimlerChrysler AG, Stuttgart, 2001; Senior Manager, Engine Emission Management and Electrical Engine Components, DaimlerChrysler AG, Stuttgart, 2000; Senior Manager, Corporate Controlling, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc., Tuscaloosa (USA), 1998, and Manager, Corporate Controlling, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc., Tuscaloosa (USA), 1995.
Mr. Källenius will succeed Professor Dr. Thomas Weber, who will leave the company when his contract expires on December 31, 2016 by mutual agreement and at his own request. He will continue to assist the company in an advisory capacity.

Prof. Dr. Weber has been a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG since January 1, 2003. In this function, he is responsible for Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development since May 1, 2004.
Following technical training at the then Daimler-Benz AG, he studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart and graduated as an engineer in 1980. He was later employed as a Scientific Associate at the University of Stuttgart and the Fraunhofer Institute.
He completed a doctorate in 1987 at the University of Stuttgart and joined the then Daimler-Benz AG in the same year. In 2010 he was appointed as Honorary Professor by the University of Stuttgart.
