Davie Yards appoints new chairman and CEO

Levis, QB, Canada - January 19, 2010, Levis, QB, Canada - Davie Yards, Inc., a marine company, announced that Gustav Johan Nydal will be joining the company as president and CEO, and Steinar Kulen will become Chairman of the board, effective February 15.

Mr. Nydal comes to Davie from the position of Director, International Hullbuilding at Kleven Maritime. Mr. Nydal started his maritime career as head of a marine engineering firm. Mr. Nydal also held several managerial positions in a silicon metal processing company before being appointed Managing Director for a Kleven Maritime shipyard building highly specialized tankers.

Mr. Nydal transferred to Akers Yards when the shipyard was sold in 2006 and subsequently returned to Kleven. Mr. Nydal holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, USA, and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim, Norway.

Mr. Kulen has 20 years experience from the maritime industry. Mr. Kulen's latest position has been as Deputy President, business area merchant vessels, Aker Yards ASA. Prior to that, Mr. Kulen served five years as President/CEO at Kleven Maritime AS and from 1992 up to 2001 he held several top management positions in Ulstein/Vickers/Rolls Royce Marine. Mr. Kulen has extensive industry board experience and he is educated from The Norwegian School of Management.
