Director Jan du Plessis to leave Marks & Spencer

London, United Kingdom - August 8, 2014, London, United Kingdom - Marks and Spencer announced that Jan du Plessis will stand down from the board of the company during the first half of 2015.

Mr. du Plessis is chairman of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited, following his appointment as a director. He has been a non-executive director of Marks and Spencer Group plc and its senior independent director.

In his earlier career, Mr. du Plessis was Group Finance Director of Compagnie Financiere Richemont, a non-executive director of British American Tobacco plc, and a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee of Lloyds Banking Group plc.
