Diyar Al Muharraq names Aaref Hejres managing director and board member

Manama, Bahrain - October 1, 2012, Manama, Bahrain - Diyar Al Muharraq, a mixed-use residential urban developer, announced the promotion of CEO Aaref Hejres to managing director and board member.




Mr. Hejres is a professionally qualified architectural engineer with 20 years of experience. Before joining Diyar Al Muharraq, Mr. Hejres was the chief executive officer of EMAAR Engineering W.L.L. Prior to that, he was an engineer in the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF).

Mr. Hejres holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Miami, Florida, US. He is a member of the American Institute of Architecture, Urban Land Institute, Bahrain Society of Engineers and founder and member of Entrepreneur Organization.

The company also announced the appointment of Maher Al Shaer as the new chief executive officer.

Mr. Al Shaer has held several top level positions as a decision maker and chief executive officer and he has 17 years of industry experience in Bahrain. Most recently Mr. Al Shaer was chief executive officer of Al Retaj, a Bahrain real estate development company. Prior to that, as Country Head & Vice President of Asset Management & Business Development with Majid Al Futtaim Group [MAF] Bahrain, he oversaw the development of the Bahrain City Centre.

Mr. Al Shaer is a founding Board Member and Treasurer of the Bahrain Property Development Association (BaPDA). He is the past President, and remains on the Board, of the Middle East Council of Shopping Centers. He is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
