Duke Energy appoints Charles W. Moorman to board

Charlotte, N.C., USA - March 1, 2016, Charlotte, N.C., USA - Duke Energy announced the appointment of former Norfolk Southern CEO and executive chairman Charles W. Wick Moorman as a new board member from March 1, 2016.

Mr. Moorman has been an Executive Chairman of Norfolk Southern Corporation since February 1, 2006 and served as its Chief Executive Officer from November 1, 2005 to June 1, 2015. Mr. Moorman has been the President of Norfolk Southern Railway Company since 2004.

He served as a Senior Vice President of Corporate Services at Norfolk Southern Corporation from February 1, 2003 to December 2003 and its Senior Vice President of Corporate Planning and Services from December 1, 2003 to October 1, 2004.

Mr. Moorman served as the President of Thoroughbred Technology and Telecommunications Inc. from October 1999 to November 2004. He was responsible for strategic planning, public relations, passenger rail relationships, the Eastern Carolina Business Unit and T-Cubed of Norfolk.

Mr. Moorman joined Norfolk Southern in 1970 and served in various senior positions in Norfolk Southern Corp.'s transportation, personnel, labor relations, information technology and strategic planning areas.

He served as Vice President of Information Technology and Vice President of Personnel and Labor Relations of Norfolk. He served as president of Norfolk Southern Corporation, since October 1, 2004.

Mr. Moorman serves as the Chairman of American Coalition For Clean Coal Electricity. He has been an Executive Director of Norfolk Southern Corporation since January 25, 2005 and serves as a Director of Norfolk Southern Railway Co. He has been a Director of Chevron Corporation since 2012.
