Charlotte, N.C., USA - June 28, 2013, Charlotte, N.C., USA - Duke Energy elected lead director Ann Maynard Gray as its new chair, effective December 31, 2013.

Ms. Maynard Gray served as the President of Diversified Publishing Group of Capital Cities/ABC Inc. from 1991 to 1997. Ms. Gray served as Corporate Vice President of ABC Inc. and its predecessors from 1979 to 1998. She served as Senior Vice President of Finance of ABC Television Network from 1988 to 1991.
She has been a Director of The Phoenix Companies Inc. and its subsidiary, Phoenix Life Insurance Company (formerly Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Co) since February 2002. She has been a Director of Duke Energy Corporation since 1994 and also has been its Lead Director since May 12, 2004.
Ms. Gray has been a Director of Cyprus Amax Minerals Co. since November 15, 1993 and PanEnergy Corp. (Formerly, Panhandle Eastern Corp.) since 1994. She serves as a Trustee of J.P. Morgan Funds. She served as a Director of Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC since 1994. She served as a Non Executive Director of Elan Corp. PLC from February 1, 2001 to July 16, 2009.
The board also has unanimously elected Lynn Good – who will replace Jim Rogers as president and CEO on July 1, 2013 – as vice chair, effective July 1.
Ms. Good is executive vice president and chief financial officer for Duke Energy. Having served as Duke Energy's CFO since July 2009, Ms. Good continued in that role following the merger between Duke Energy and Progress Energy in early 2012. Before that, she served as group executive and president of Duke Energy's Commercial Businesses organization, since November 2007. She was responsible for the Midwest nonregulated generation, Duke Energy International, Duke Energy Generation Services, the telecommunications businesses, and all corporate development and merger and acquisition activities.
Prior to that, she served as senior vice president and treasurer for Duke Energy. Before the merger of Duke Energy and Cinergy in April 2006, Ms. Good served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Cinergy. Ms. Good joined Cinergy in May 2003 as vice president of financial project strategy. She was named vice president and controller later the same year, and vice president of finance and controller in January 2005.
Prior to joining Cinergy, Ms. Good was a partner with the international accounting firm, Deloitte & Touche, based in Cincinnati, Ohio. From 1981 to 2002, she served in various senior management roles with Arthur Andersen, rising to partner in 1992. ■
