Cairo, Egypt - January 2, 2014, Cairo, Egypt - EFG Hermes, an investment bank, announced that distinguished finance industry veteran, Khalid Ellaicy has been appointed as the firm’s new CFO, effective today.

Mr. Ellaicy joins the firm with decades of invaluable experience with global and regional multinationals.
Mr. Elliacy joins the firm from Orascom Telecom (OT), where he was CFO for two years.
In addition to being in charge of the finance functions at this leading telecommunication provider in Africa, Asia and North America, he was responsible for managing and coordinating the functions of the CFOs’ of all OT’s operating companies.
Mr. Ellaicy served as the Group Chief Financial Officer of Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E from October 17, 2011 to December 15, 2013. He served as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance at Egyptian Co. for Mobile Services since July 1, 2007.
He served as Director, Risk Management and Internal Audit of Egyptian Co. for Mobile Services since July 1, 2005.
Mr. Ellaicy served as Vice President, Finance of Mobinil Telecommunications SAE since January 1, 2007. He has over 17 years of business experience in the fields of Finance, Auditing, and Accounting. He served as Director for Finance of Mobile Telecommunications Company - Kuwait (MTC Vodafone).
Before joining MTC, Mr. Ellaicy achieved the level of Partner at KPMG Cairo, becoming the youngest partner in the history of the Egypt practice.
He was the Engagement partner in charge of Mobinil until 2 years ago.
In addition, Mr. Ellaicy assumed the position of Regional Finance Director at Pepsi Cola International, Egypt, where he was in charge of the local and consolidated accounting and reporting requirements for three counties.
Mr. Ellaicy track record of professional employment experience encompassed an international exposure at the USA where he worked for two public accounting firms: Lowey and Stolzenberg and BDO Seidman.
He has been Director of Pakistan Mobile Communications Ltd., since November 17, 2011. He served as an Executive Director of Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E until December 15, 2013.
Mr. Ellaicy’s previous experience also includes serving as CFO of Batelco, Bahrain’s telecommunications group.
Mr. Ellaicy is a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Egyptian Society of Accountants and Auditors. ■
