Lakewood, Colo., USA - February 25, 2014, Lakewood, Colo., USA - Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. announced that it has appointed Michael Arthur as interim chief executive officer and president following the resignation of Jeff O’Neill.

Mr. Arthur has been a Director of the Company since October 2004 and served as Chairman of the Audit Committee. Since 1990, Mr. Arthur has headed Michael Arthur and Associates, a consulting and interim management firm specializing in restructurings, business development, and strategic, financial, marketing and branding strategies. He served as CEO of California Federal Bank and financial advisor to Long John Silver’s Restaurants.
Mr. Arthur has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Sizzler Restaurants and Pinkerton Security; Vice President of Marketing for Mattel Toys; and also served in management roles for D’Arcy, Masius, Benton & Bowles Advertising and Procter and Gamble.
Mr. Arthur has a B.A. degree from Johns Hopkins University and attended the Wharton Graduate School of Business.
Mr. O’Neill served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Einstein Noah Restaurant Group. He is a 25-year veteran of the Food and Beverage Industry in North America with an extensive Leadership background in brand marketing, strategic planning and store operations. He joined ENRGI in December 2008 and has led a rebirth of the brand through strong brand positioning, unit growth and the accelerated development of both franchising and licensing within the Einstein Bros brand.
Prior to joining ENRGI Mr. O’Neill held the titles of chief operating officer, president and chief executive officer of Priszm Brands, a publicly traded restaurant company.. Prior to joining Priszm Mr. O’Neill held senior positions with some of the world’s most recognized brand names including President of Pepsi Cola Canada and Vice President of Sales for The Quaker Oats Company.
Through-out his career he has been involved in numerous industry associations including Chair of Refreshment Canada, and a Director of Corporations supporting Recycling, he is just finishing a 3 year term on the Deans Advisory Board of the Business School at The University of Ottawa. ■
