Tel Aviv, Israel – Better Place, a developer of infrastructure for electric cars, announced the promotion of Evan Thornley, chief executive officer of Better Place Australia, to CEO of the global company.[break]
Mr. Thornley joined Better Place in 2009 and he was instrumental in expanding the company’s partnership with Renault and forming an industry consortium, EV Engineering. He previously he worked for McKinsey & Co. in its New York and Australian offices, and helped found the company’s practice in Malaysia. He also served as a Member of Parliament for the State of Victoria. He holds degrees in Law and Commerce from The University of Melbourne.
Better Place founder Shai Agassi will continue as a Board member and shareholder in the company.
Mr. Agassi served as Better Place CEO from the company’s founding in 2007. He was awarded in 2011 the "Legion d’Honneur" by the French government for his contributions to sustainable transportation.
