eMalahleni, South Africa - EVRAZ Highveld Steel and Vanadium announced that Michael Dennis Garcia resigned as executive director and chief executive officer.

Mr. Garcia has BS in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and MBA from Harvard Business School (US).
Mr. Garcia was appointed as Chief Executive Officer on May 13, 2011.
Prior to joining Evraz Highveld, he was Senior Vice-President, Manufacturing and Supply Chain of Evraz Inc. North America.
Prior to joining Evraz, he was Vice-President of Merchant Operations at Gerdau Ameristeel, a U.S. subsidiary o Gerdau.
Prior to joining Gerdau Ameristeel, Mr. Garcia spent eight years with Alcoa, Inc.
His last role with Alcoa was as the senior commercial leader for Alcoa's Flat-rolled products business in China.
Other assignments with Alcoa included Director of Sales and Marketing for Alcoa's North American automotive sheet business and Operations Director of Alcoa's Pimalco Aluminium Extrusion facility.
Prior to joining Alcoa, Mr. Garcia worked for Kimberly-Clark Corporation in a variety of manufacturing management positions.
Before beginning his business career, he was an Officer in the United States Army where he served in the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
The company also announced that Jan Valenta, currently company's executive director, has been appointed as the new chief executive officer.
Mr. Valenta joined Evraz Group in 2010 and held the position of Deputy Chief Financial Officer in Evraz Vitkovice Steel.
Before joining Evraz, he was a manager at Deloitte providing audit and management consulting services to clients in the Czech Republic and Canada predominantly focusing on manufacturing clients.
He is a chartered accountant and has Masters degree in Economics (Charles University in Prague).
The company also announced that Olga Luzik has been appointed as a director of the Board and as Financial Director of the Company.
Ms. Luzik has been in the employment of EVRAZ since 2003 and has held several financial and management positions in the EVRAZ Group. ■
