Facebook names Mike Schroepfer chief technology officer

Menlo Park, Ca., USA - March 18, 2013, Menlo Park, Ca., USA - Facebook confirmed that it has appointed its VP of Engineering Mike Schroepfer as chief technology officer.

Mr. Schroepfer was Software Engineer at computer software company Puffin Designs and after that he became a partner in Reactivity, Inc., a computer software consulting practice.

Mr. Schroepfer founded the computer software company CenterRun, becoming its Chief Architect and Director of Engineering. CenterRun was acquired by Sun Microsystems and he became the Chief Technology Officer for Sun's data center automation division.

Mr. Schroepfer was the Vice President of engineering at Mozilla Corporation where he led the development of the Firefox web browser. He became director of engineering at Facebook in July 2008.
