West Des Moines, Io., USA - June 15, 2012, West Des Moines, Io., USA - FBL Financial Group announced that CEO James E. Hohmann will be stepping down, effective June 30, 2012.

Mr. Hohmann will also be stepping down from the FBL Financial Group board. He was named chief executive officer of FBL Financial Group in January 2010. He has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.
Prior to FBL, Mr. Hohmann was President and CEO of Allstate Financial with executive accountabilities for 15 Allstate affiliates including Allstate Life Insurance Company, Allstate Bank, Allstate Workplace and Allstate Institutional Markets. Prior to that, Mr. Hohmann was President and Chief Operating Officer at Conseco, President and CEO of XL Life and Annuity; and President, Financial Institutions, for Zurich Kemper Life.
Mr. Hohmann also worked for nearly 13 years for business consulting practices: Tillinghast/Towers Perrin where he was Managing Principal of the Chicago Life operations, and KPMG Peat Marwick.
A Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, Mr. Hohmann began his career as a life insurance actuary. He has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Northwestern University and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago, graduating with high honors.
Mr. Hohmann is a member of the board of governors of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, is on the American Agricultural Insurance Company advisory committee, and is a former board member of the American Council of Life Insurers. He also serves on the boards of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Bankers Trust and OMNI Youth Services in Chicago.
Current Chief Financial Officer, James P. Brannen, has been named interim Chief Executive Officer until a successor can be appointed.
Mr. Brannen, currently serving as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer and Treasurer of FBL Financial Group, has been named interim Chief Executive Officer and will lead the organization until a permanent replacement is named.
Mr. Brannen joined FBL in 1991 and held various positions in the tax and accounting areas prior to being named to his current position in 2007. Prior to joining FBL, he worked primarily on corporate tax matters for insurance companies for Ernst & Young. ■
