Rome, Italy - May 16, 2014, Rome, Italy - Finmeccanica, an industrial group, announced that it has appointed Mauro Moretti as chief executive officer.

Mr. Moretti is Managing Director of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, President of Fondazione FS Italiane, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grandi Stazioni, and Interim Manager of the Department of Institutional Affairs and Competition.
Mr. Moretti graduated with an Hons. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1977. In the same year, he was successful in a public competition for managerial posts in what was then the Azienda Autonoma Ferrovie dello Stato. He is registered with the Italian Institution of Engineers in Rome.
Mr. Moretti is Vice-Chairman of UIC (Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer), President of the European Management Committee of UIC, and Member of the Executive Board of UIC. He is Co-Chairman of the ltalian-Egyptian Business Council. He held numerous functions in the FSI Group.
Mr. Moretti is also Member of the Council of Confindustria, Member of the Executive Committee of Confindustria, Member of the Europa Technical Committee (Confindustria), Member of the Council of Assolombarda, Member of the Executive Committee of Assolombarda, Vice-Chairman of the Unione Industriali Napolisince with mandate on Large Infrastructures, Member of the Executive Committee of Unindustria, and Representative of Federtrasporto within the Council of Confindustria.
Mr. Moretti is also Chairman of the Collegio Ingegneri Ferroviari Italiani, Member of the Council of ANIE, Federazione Nazionale Imprese Elettrotecniche ed Elettroniche (Confindustria), Member of the Comitato Scientifico Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, General Councillor of the Fondazione SLALA, Chairman of the Council of FIGI (Facolta Ingegneria Grandi Imprese) currently being formalized, and Mayor of the Municipality of Mompeo in the Province of Rieti.
Mr. Moretti is a Cavaliere del Lavoro and was awarded a Degree Honoris Causa in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Cassino.
Mr. Moretti was also Member of the Regulatory Commission for the V.E. Directive 96/48 for the Interoperability of the European Union Railway Networks, Member of the Board of the Italian-Egyptian Business Council, Vice Chairman of CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies), Member of the Executive Board of UIC, Chairman of the Infrastructure Forum of the Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer, Chairman of the Expertise Committee for Email Speed World Congress on High Speed Railways for UIC (Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer), Manager of the "Development" Department of the Infrastructure Commission of the Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer, and Member of the Editorial Committee of "Ingegneria Ferroviaria.
Mr. Moretti was also appointed as the Company’s General Manager following the termination of the employment contract with Alessandro Pansa, who formerly held the office.
Mr. Pansa started his career in Finmeccanica in 2001. He was Chief Financial Officer and later Co-General Manager, General Manager, and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Pansa began his career at Credito Italiano SpA and Euromobiliare SpA. He then became Senior Partner at Vitale Borghesi & C. where he oversaw some M&A and stock market deals like the flotation of Mondadori, the Public Tender Offer of the Credito Romagnolo by Credito Italiano.
Mr. Pansa was also involved in corporate finance transactions on behalf of Finmeccanica, Enel, Wind, Poste Italiane, Ferrovie dello Stato SpA and the Italian Ministry of Treasury. Subsequently he was appointed Managing Director and partner of Lazard, where he coordinated the privatization and flotation of Finmeccanica on behalf of the Treasury.
Mr. Pansa joined Finmeccanica in 2001 as Chief Financial Officer. He became Co- General Manager in 2004, Chief Operating Officer in May 2011 as well as Chief Financial Officer. He is a member of the Board of Feltrinelli Editore SpA and the Italian SpA Strategic Fund. He is also a member of the Council for Relations between Italy and the USA and the Aspen Institute. He is Professor of Finance at the LUISS University of Rome and has authored articles economic and financial.
The Board of Directors also proceeded to appoint Director Paolo Cantarella as Lead Independent Director.
Mr. Cantarella is an Operating Partner at Advent International Corporation, and focuses on the industrial sector. He serves as a Member of the Executive Board of Confindustria, the Confederation of Italian Industries. He served as the President of European Automobile Manufacturers Association. From 1983 to 1989, he served as the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Comau S.p.A., a Fiat Group company ■
