First Niagara appoints interim president, CEO

Buffalo, N.Y., USA - March 21, 2013, Buffalo, N.Y., USA - First Niagara Financial Group announced that it has appointed Gary M. Crosby as interim president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Crosby currently is Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative and Operations Officer of First Niagara. He joined First Niagara in 2009, and has served as its Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative and Operating Officer.

Before joining First Niagara, Mr. Crosby was a founding shareholder of ClientLogic Corporation serving as chief financial and chief operating officer. He was a partner with Seed Capital Partners, a venture capital firm, and has held senior financial leadership positions in banking and manufacturing. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Canisius College.

Mr. Crosby replaces John R. Koelmel, First Niagara's President, Chief Executive Officer and Board member.

Mr. Koelmel served as President and CEO since December 2006. He has been a director since 2007. Upon joining the Company in January 2004, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. Koelmel spent the initial 26 years of his career at KPMG LLP, where he served many banking and financial services clients, serving as Managing Partner of the Buffalo office and the firm's Upstate New York Business Unit.
