FirstEnergy names VP, controller and chief accounting officer

Akron, Oh., USA - February 21, 2013, Akron, Oh., USA - FirstEnergy Corp., a diversified energy company, announced that Jon Taylor, vice president and assistant controller, has been named the company's vice president, controller and chief accounting officer, effective May 1, 2013.

Mr. Taylor began his career with FirstEnergy in 2009 as manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting. He was promoted to assistant controller of FirstEnergy Utilities in 2010 and to assistant controller for FirstEnergy Solutions and FirstEnergy Generation in 2012. He was named to his current position in October 2012. Before joining FirstEnergy, Mr. Taylor worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP for 13 years.

Mr. Taylor graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a Master of Accounting degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a licensed certified public accountant in Ohio and Alabama. He is a board member of the Development Finance Authority of Summit County – an Ohio Port Authority. He succeeds Harvey L. Wagner, who has elected to retire.

Mr. Wagner joined Ohio Edison in 1974 and served in various accounting positions before being named comptroller of Ohio Edison in 1990. Mr. Wagner was elected controller and chief accounting officer of FirstEnergy in 1997, the year Ohio Edison and Centerior Energy merged to form FirstEnergy Corp. In 2001, he was named vice president and controller. He was appointed to his current position in 2003.
