Falls Church, Va., USA - December 9, 2013, Falls Church, Va., USA - General Dynamics announced that Robert E. Smith has been appointed as president of Jet Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary, effective effective January 1, 2014.

Mr. Smith has been the vice president and chief financial officer of Jet Aviation, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, since July 2012, responsible for oversight of all financial functions.
Previously he was vice president and CFO of General Dynamics NASSCO, a San Diego-based shipbuilding, maintenance and repair company. He joined General Dynamics at its Electric Boat subsidiary in 1989.
Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University and a MBA in Finance from RPI.
He succeeds Daniel G. Clare, who has been appointed chief financial officer of Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., also a subsidiary.
Mr. Clare has been president of Jet Aviation since July 2011, responsible for oversight of the company’s business aviation services operations worldwide. He joined Jet Aviation from Gulfstream.
He joined Gulfstream in 1998 and served as its Director of Finance and Aircraft Services.
Prior to Gulfstream, Mr. Clare served as Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Liberty Technologies Inc., since March 1995 and its Principal Accounting Officer. He held various financial management positions in Martin Marietta/General Electric (GE) Aerospace.
Previously, he held positions throughout GE, including the Plastics Group, GE Capital Corporation, the Corporate Audit Staff and the Power Delivery Division. ■
