Georgia Power appoints Mark Burns to board

Atlanta, Ga., USA - May 22, 2017, Atlanta, Ga., USA - Georgia Power, an electric subsidiary of Southern Company, announced the election of Mark Burns to the company's board of directors.

Mr. Burns is the president of Savannah-based Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation and a vice president of General Dynamics, Gulfstream's parent company.

Mr. Burns joined Gulfstream in 1983 and was named president in February 2015.

He has worked in a variety of technical and engineering roles throughout the company including the GIV flight test program as well as a computer-aided design operator.

Prior to being named president of Gulfstream, Mr. Burns served in various executive leadership roles including Product Support President, vice president of Customer Support, vice president of the Savannah service center, and vice president of Completions Engineering.

Mr. Burns holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Southern University.
