Infosys managing director, CEO Vishal Sikka resigns

Mumbai, India - August 21, 2017, Mumbai, India - The board of directors of Infosys Limited accepted the notice of resignation of Vishal Sikka as the managing director and CEO.

Dr. Sikka has been appointed Executive Vice Chairman, and will hold office until the new permanent Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director takes charge, which should be no later than March 31, 2018.

Dr. Sikka joined Infosys in 2014 as Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to joining Infosys, Dr. Sikka was a member of the Executive Board of SAP.

In his 12 years at SAP, he held several senior leadership roles including becoming SAP’s first-ever CTO in 2007.

Dr. Sikka received his BS in Computer Science from Syracuse University.

He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University.

U. B. Pravin Rao has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director reporting to Dr. Sikka under the overall supervision and control of the Company’s Board.

Mr. Rao oversees the key functions of global sales, global delivery and business enabling functions.

Mr. Rao has over 30 years of experience.

Since joining Infosys in 1986, he has held a number of senior leadership roles including Chief Operating Officer, Head of Infrastructure Management Services, Delivery Head for Europe, and Head of Retail, Consumer Packaged Goods, Logistics and Life Sciences.
