Houston, Tx., USA - November 18, 2013, Houston, Tx., USA - InterOil Corporation, a petroleum company, announced the retirement of Phil Mulacek from the board and the appointment of the chief executive officer Michael Hession to fill that vacancy.

Mr. Mulacek, Founder of InterOil Corporation, has served as Chief Executive Officer since 1997. Mr. Mulacek led the integrated development of InterOil into downstream operations (retail and distribution), Refining and Exploration in Papua New Guinea.
Mr. Mulacek spearheaded the discovery of three major geologic discoveries over the last 3 years, with four of PNG’s highest gas flow rates and two world records for gas well flow rates.
Mr. Mulacek is Founder and President of Petroleum Independent Exploration, LLC, a company established in 1981 engaged in oil and gas exploration, drilling and production across the southwest portion of the United States.
Mr. Mulacek has more than 30 years experience in oil and gas exploration and production and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.
Dr. Hession has more than 25 years of international exploration, operation and commercial experience, most recently as a Senior Vice President at Browse LNG Development, a division of Woodside Energy Ltd, where he has been responsible for the development of the company’s biggest hydrocarbon resource and one of the world’s largest global energy projects.
During his twelve-year career at Woodside, he held several high-profile roles related to the Pluto LNG Mega-Project and exploration and development of assets in North Africa and North America.
Dr. Hession began his career at BP International. His last position at the company was Development Manager on the Chirag Azeri Mega-Project.
Prior to that, he managed exploration projects in Indonesia, the United States and Norway.
Dr. Hession was educated in Britain and France, earning his Doctorate in Geophysics from the University College Wales and his Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Hull (UK). ■
