Mr. Baptista graduated in Economy at the Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal. Prior to joining Burrill & Company Mr. Baptista served as a Director of Rio Bravo Venture Partners, an asset management firm created from the merger of MVP with the Venture Capital division of Rio Bravo Investimentos. Mr. Baptista brings considerable experience to Burrill & Company; he served as General Director of Pacific Infotech Corp (PIC), an investment group with focus on technology-based companies, where he implemented, developed and expanded its business in Europe, from their headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal; and he has extensive consulting activities for new businesses in the sectors of IT and telecommunications, as well as in company restructurings. Mr. Baptista worked on expansion of business operations for INESC - Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores (Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering), Brazil, and for their company, Aitec SGPS. He founded Mercatto Venture Partners Ltda., one of the pioneers in venture capital activities in Brazil, and he actively participated in the founding of Projeto INOVAR from FINEP (Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology), being responsible for the idea to establish the Venture Forum Bra
