Chicago, Ill., USA - July 23, 2009, Chicago, Ill., USA - UAL Corporation announced that Kathryn Mikells has been named executive vice president of UAL Corporation, and continues as CFO. John Tague has been named president of United Airlines.

Ms. Mikells holds a master's of business from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's of science degree in finance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Named to the position of CFO in November 2008, Ms. Mikells is responsible for treasury, tax, the accounting and controller functions, budgets, strategic and financial planning, business decision analysis, external financial reporting and, for administrative purposes, internal audit.
She also is responsible for mergers and acquisitions, fleet planning, corporate development and investor relations. Ms. Mikells served as vice president of Investor Relations for United, where she was responsible for continuing to build the investor relations function, representing United to the business and financial analyst community, and working closely with investors.
Previously, she served as vice president of Financial Planning and Analysis for United. Prior to that, she was vice president and treasurer for United.
Ms. Mikells has also held several leadership positions including vice president of Corporate Real Estate, director of Corporate Planning, chief financial officer of Mileage Plus, director of Financial Analysis, and manager of Operating Budgets and Treasury.
Ms. Mikells joined United in 1994 as a financial analyst. She spent six years in the financial services sector prior to joining United, including positions at GE Capital's Corporate Finance Group, Household International and Canadian Imperial Bank.
Ms. Mikells serves on the board of directors of the Weitz Company.
Named to the position of VP and COO in May 2008, Mr. Tague is responsible for Airport Operations; Cargo; Maintenance; Operational Services, United Express; Flight Operations; Onboard Service; Marketing; Mileage Plus; united.com; call centers; Sales; Alliances, International and Regulatory Affairs; and planning, including Scheduling and Revenue Management activities.
Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Tague was executive vice president and chief revenue officer from 2006-2008.
He was responsible for all revenue-generating activities, including marketing, alliances, international and regulatory affairs, sales, distribution and reservations, and United Loyalty Services, including Mileage Plus® and e-Commerce.
He also was responsible for all of United’s planning activities, including pricing, yield management and route scheduling.
In May 2004, Mr. Tague was named executive vice president of Marketing, Sales and Revenue, where he was responsible for all revenue-generating activities, including planning, scheduling, pricing and revenue management.
Mr. Tague joined United in 2003 as executive vice president of Customer.
Prior to joining United, Mr. Tague served as president and chief executive officer of ATA Holdings Corp., at the time, America's 10th largest airline.
Before his appointment to president in 1993, he served as executive vice president of Marketing and Planning for ATA Airlines Inc.
He also held various positions at Midway Airlines, including senior vice president of Marketing and Planning. ■
