Englewood, Colo., USA - December 21, 2010, Englewood, Colo., USA - Liberty Global, Inc. announce the appointment of Lutz Schüler to the position of Managing Director of Unitymedia GmbH, Liberty Global’s cable operations in Germany, effective January 1, 2011.

Mr. Schüler spent 12 years at the Telefónica O2 group, most recently as CEO of HanseNet Telekommunikation.
Prior to that he was at Telefónica O2, holding the positions of Managing Director Marketing & Sales with responsibility for the consumer business, building innovations like “o2oâ€, as well as Member of the Board, SVP Product Management and Strategy, managing the corporate business.
At Telefónica O2, he was also Manager Product & Strategy and Manager Content, Commerce & Applications. Before joining Telefónica O2 in 1998, Mr. Lutz was a Product Manager at T-Mobil.
Mr. Lutz took an apprenticeship as a banker at Westdeutsche Genossenschafts-Zentralbank in Düsseldorf and graduated with a Master degree in Business Administration from the University of Augsburg.
Mr. Schüler is succeeding Gene Musselman who has been serving as CEO since early 2010 and who is retiring from his role as President and COO of UPC Broadband at the end of this year.
Mr. Musselman became President and Chief Operating Officer of UPC Broadband, the largest division of Liberty Global, Inc., in September 2003 and is based in UPC’s corporate headquarters in the Netherlands.
Mr. Musselman serves as a Director or Supervisory Board member for a number of Liberty Global’s subsidiary cable operations in Europe, including subsidiaries in Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland.
Mr. Musselman is an executive officer of Liberty Global and sits on the company’s Executive Management Committee.
Mr. Musselman became Chief Operating Officer in April 2000 and a member of its Board of Management from June 2000 to September 2003 of United Pan Europe Communications NV, later merged into Liberty Global Europe Holding BV.
In September 1997, he became Chief Operating Officer of Telekabel Wien, an Austrian subsidiary.
Shortly thereafter, he became Chief Executive Officer of Telekabel Wien. Except when working with Tevecap S.A. in Brazil from 1995 to 1997, Mr. Musselman has been with UnitedGlobalCom, Inc. or its predecessors and then its parent, Liberty Global, since 1991.
Mr. Musselman has been actively involved in the cable industry for more than 25 years.
Prior to 1991, residing in the United States, he worked with The Hearst Corporation from 1983 to 1990 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hearst Cablevision.
He also served as Director of New Business Development at Hearst’s Entertainment and Syndication Group in 1991.
Previously, Mr. Musselman worked with Televents Inc. as Vice President of Operations and Marketing.
In March 2000, Mr. Musselman was awarded the EHRPFENNIG Award by the Mayor of the State Klagenfurt, Austria for his special services rendered in the economical sector and in 2004, Mr. Musselman received the “groBes Silbernes Ehrenzeichen des Landes Wien†granted by the provincial government of Vienna.
Mr. Musselman was the first international business person to receive the award in 10 years. ■
