MasterCard appoints head of merchant marketing in Asia/Pacific, Middle East & Africa

Singapore – MasterCard announced the appointment of Marcus Mak as head of merchant marketing for the company’s Asia/Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA) regions.[break]

Mr. Mak has held a variety of leadership roles in payments-related companies, managing areas such as co-brand products, cross border, merchant acceptance and merchant relations. His experience spans 18 years across Asia/Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Mr. Mak worked as Senior Business Leader at Visa, where he developed and implemented the co-branded card product strategy and plan for Asia Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East & Africa (APCEMEA) region.

He was also Regional Director for Asia Pacific at Visa and before that he was with American Express International Inc. as Head of Client Management. While at American Express, he also worked as Area Manager - South East Asia, Account Manager, and Sales Executive. He started his career as Business Executive at Getz Brothers (S) Pte Ltd.
