New York, USA â€” A French beauty products manufacturer Coty Inc. announces that Bernd Beetz has advised the Coty board of directors of his decision to retire as chief executive officer of the global beauty company. [break]

Since 2001, Mr. Beetz has helped transform Coty into a leading global beauty company. Mr. Beetz has been honored with numerous awards, including the Marco Polo Award (2002), the highest honor given by the Chinese government to a foreign business leader. In 2005, Mr. Beetz attained Unileverâ€™s prestige fragrance business, adding notable brands such as Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, ChloÃ©, Lagerfeld and Cerruti to the companyâ€™s distinguished portfolio.

In 2006, on behalf of the March of Dimes, Vera Wang presented Mr. Beetz with the Beautiful Apple Award for his dedication and contributions to the beauty industry. Also in 2008, he received the Man of the Year award given by Cosmetique Magazine.

The Coty board unanimously appointed Michele Scannavini, who has been president of Coty Prestige for the past decade, as his successor, effective August 1, 2012.

Mr. Scannavini joined Coty in 2002. He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Fila Holding S.p.A. Italy, the sport apparel and footwear company. Prior to joining Fila, Mr. Scannavini was the Head of Sales and Marketing for Ferrari and Maserati. He was responsible for brand image, licensing and customer satisfaction, and managed commercial aspects of the business with accountability for worldwide sales, subsidiary results and logistics. ■
