Chicago, Ill., USA - February 21, 2014, Chicago, Ill., USA - Morningstar, Inc., a financial-data firm, announced that Heather Brilliant and Mark Roomans have been named co-chief executive officers of Morningstar Australasia Pty Limited in Sydney, effective April 1, 2014.

Ms. Brilliant currently serves as global director of equity and corporate credit research.
Before joining Morningstar 10 years ago, Ms. Brilliant spent several years as an equity research analyst for boutique investment firms.
Ms. Brilliant is a member of the CFA Institute Board of Governors and is a past chairman of the CFA Society of Chicago.
Crain’s Chicago Business recently named Ms. Brilliant to its 2013 40 Under 40 class, a list of professionals from a variety of industries who are proven leaders in their field.
Ms. Brilliant holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Mr. Roomans currently serves as chief operating officer of Morningstar Europe. He will continue to serve as chief operating officer of Morningstar Europe, in addition to his role as co-CEO of Morningstar Australasia.
He previously served as head of new markets, establishing Morningstar’s operations in Mexico, Chile, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates, and has been CEO of Morningstar Spain and Morningstar Switzerland. He has been with Morningstar for 13 years.
Ms. Brilliant and Mr. Roomans will manage the business together throughout 2014, and Ms. Brilliant will become sole CEO in 2015.
Anthony Serhan, currently chief executive officer of Morningstar Australasia, has been named managing director of research strategy, Asia-Pacific for Morningstar’s global Research group.
Mr. Serhan will focus on research and analysis on Asia-Pacific securities markets, economic and financial trends, and investment themes.
He has served as chief executive officer of Morningstar Australasia since 2010 and was previously managing director of Ibbotson Associates Australia, a Morningstar company. Mr. Serhan joined Morningstar in 2003. ■
