Johannesburg, South Africa - February 25, 2014, Johannesburg, South Africa - Mwana Africa, a resources company, announced that non-executive chairman Mark Wellesley-Wood has left the board.

Appointed to Board in September 2013, Mr. Wellesley-Wood has more than 40 years experience in both the African mining industry and investment banking. Prior to joining Mwana, he was a director of Investec Investment Banking and Securities in London prior to which he was Head of Corporate Finance at Ambrian Partners.
Mr. Wellesley-Wood has been closely involved in mining activities in Southern Africa, having started his career on the Zambian copper-belt and held the positions of Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of South African gold miner, DRDGold Limited.
Mr. Wellesley-Wood has also been the CEO of Metallon Gold (Redwing Mining), which operates gold mines in Zimbabwe. He is a qualified mining engineer and fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
The company also announced that Stuart Morris, who is Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee, has been appointed Interim Chairman and will fulfil this role until a new Non-executive Chairman has been appointed.
Mr. Morris was appointed to the Board in December 2005. He became a partner of KPMG South Africa in 1976, later becoming Senior Partner and a member of the KPMG International executive and board.
Mr. Morris was Chairman of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants Ethics Committee; President of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry; a Public Investment Commissioner; and a Council member of Witwatersrand University. From 1999 until 2004, when he retired, he was Group Financial Director of Nedbank Group Limited. ■
