Oppenheimer: Marc Thompson head of software banking in Tech & Telecom

New York, USA - August 11, 2009, New York, USA - Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., a unit of Oppenheimer Holdings, announces that Marc Thompson will rejoin the firm to take up his former role as Managing Director and Head of Software Banking in the Technology & Telecom group.

Mr. Thompson received his B.A. from Dartmouth College. Marc Thompson served as Managing Director with the Merchant Banking team at CIBC World Markets. Prior to his current position, he was the Head of the Software Investment Banking team and was instrumental in defining the group's focus, expanding its capabilities and building the team. CIBC’s software team provided advisory services to a wide range of software companies in the Infrastructure and Applications sectors. Marc has more than 16 years of investment banking experience and has completed a wide range of public and private equity and debt financings and M&A assignments for clients in the technology and industrial sectors. Mr. Thompson began his career at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., prior to its acquisition by CIBC. He returned to CIBC World Markets' Investment Banking group in 1997 after having spent four years as Vice President of Corporate Development with a publicly-traded technology comp
