Cairo, Egypt - October 3, 2014, Cairo, Egypt - Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding (OTMT) has announced that Karim Beshara has submitted his resignation from his position as CEO and member of the board.

In June 2012, Mr. Beshara stepped up from Managing Director to become the Chief Executive Officer of Orascom Telecom Media Technologies OTMT. He joined OTMT at the onset of 2012 to overlook setting up the company through the spin-off process from Orascom Telecom Holding.
Prior to that, he was the CEO of LINKdotNET, the largest Internet Service Provider in the Middle East. One of the founders of LINKdotNET, Mr. Beshara, played a key role in the merger of Egypt’s two largest ISPs that led to the formation of the company in the year 2000. He held several key positions in business development, sales, new ventures and commercial activities, and in 2002, he played an instrumental role in the company’s biggest acquisition of eight online businesses, before finally assuming the responsibility of CEO in 2005.
Finally, he saw through the fusion of LINKdotNET into Egypt’s leading mobile operator, Mobinil, after the operator’s acquisition of the company in 2010 in line with worldwide market trends of convergence between ISP’s and operators to form integrated telecommunications companies.
In 1997, he started his career gaining a three-year experience in the commercial arena at Egitco, a packaging and reselling company of bulk wheat and flour, where he was actively involved in the development of a new factory that sorted and packed grain products.
Mr. Beshara graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo in 1997.
OTMT approved the appointment of Ahmed Abou Doma as his successor.
Mr. Abou Doma, Group Executive Vice President, Head of the Asia and Africa Business Unit and Chief Executive Officer of Orascom Telecom Holding.
Previously Mr. Abou Doma served as the Chief Executive Officer in Banglalink, Orascom Telecom Holding (from January 2009). Earlier, he held the position of Marketing Director in Mobinil, Egypt (from 2003). He joined Mobinil in 1998 as a Market Development Manager and from 2000 till 2003 Mr. Abou Doma held positions of Senior Market Manager for Planning and Development and Senior Manager for Market Strategy and Analysis in Mobinil. ■
