Peabody Energy names president, COO

St. Louis, Mo., USA - August 22, 2013, St. Louis, Mo., USA - Peabody Energy, a coal company, announced that it has named veteran mining executive Glenn Kellow to the position of president and chief operating officer.

Mr. Kellow will serve as a member of Peabody's executive leadership team. Mr. Kellow has most recently served as President of the multinational Aluminum and Nickel business for BHP Billiton, a mining company. Mr. Kellow has held a number of executive, operating and financial positions in coal, base metals, steel and petroleum businesses. Over the years, he has held multiple posts in the United States, Australia and South America.

Mr. Kellow's coal industry experience includes responsibilities as President and Chief Operating Officer of New Mexico Coal where he directed underground and surface coal mines. He worked extensively with state, federal and tribal stakeholders and received recognition from the New Mexico House of Representatives for his services to the community. He also is a former director of the World Coal Association and the National Mining Association.

Mr. Kellow was the Chairman of Worsley Alumina (Australia), Chairman of Mozal (Mozambique), and Vice Chairman of the Nickel Institute, and is a member of the advisory board of the Energy and Minerals Institute for the University of Western Australia in Perth.
