Rochester, N.Y., USA - July 6, 2010, Rochester, N.Y., USA - Pictometry International Corporation, a software company, announces the retirement of Richard A. Kaplan as president and CEO, effective August 1.

Mr. Kaplan has an extensive background in economics, accounting, management, and executive leadership that have benefited many corporations, start-ups, universities, and other organizations.
Mr. Kaplan is also the former President of Richland Industries, Inc. and Max Pies Floor Coverings, a retail floor covering chain. He was Chairman and co-founder of Resnick Media Associates, Inc., an advertising and marketing agency, and Blanton Communications, Inc., a computer software company.
He was President of RAK Realty Corporation, a real estate development company. He is the former Chairman of the Board and founder of WorkSmart International Inc., a human resource development, publishing, and training company for multi-market, multinational corporations and organizations.
He was also Chairman Emeritus and founder of the Maxim Group Inc, previously a publicly held company traded on the New York Stock Exchange (MXG). He is also the founder and chairman of the board of the Comon Group which is a franchise initiator, its first franchise being a retail photography chain called CLIX.
Mr. Kaplan has done private consulting and guest lecturing on marketing, economics, and organizational development at universities as well as many business groups. He is also an investor and participates on the boards of many start-up companies.
Mr. Kaplan serves on numerous advisory boards at leading universities and related organizations. He is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors for the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Vice President of the Rochester Angel Investment Network, a board member of the High Tech Incubator (Venture Creations) at RIT, Nazareth College Board of Trustees, and a member of the University of Rochester Venture Development Advisory Board.
Mr. Kaplan ran for the U.S. Congress in 1998 and is also the creator of a new and unique theory, regarding social remediation in democracies, called C.A.R.I.N.G. He has written a book and lectured on the causes of, and the solutions to, poverty and other problems facing our society. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Buffalo, where he majored in Accounting and minored in Economics.
While Mr. Kaplan will retire from his day-to-day role at the Company, he will continue to serve as a member of the Company’s Board of Directors in which capacity he will continue to offer advice and counsel.
Richard M. Hurwitz will succeed Kaplan as President & CEO and will be responsible for driving Pictometry through its next phase of development. ■
