Ranbaxy Laboratories: Arun Sawhney new managing director

Gurgaon, India - August 13, 2010, Gurgaon, India - Ranbaxy Laboratories, a pharmaceuticals company, announced that its chief executive and managing director Atul Sobti announced his resignation. The new managing director will be Arun Sawhney.



Mr. Sobti has a meritorious track record, and the experience of managing large business operations. Prior to joining Ranbaxy, he was the Executive Director, Sales, Marketing, Finance and HR at Hero Honda.

Mr. Sobti has many successes to his credit during the 30 years of his career spanning diverse industries such as durables, information technology, services, automobiles and now pharmaceuticals. During these years he has worked with some of the most reputed brands such as Xerox and Honda.

Mr. Sobti has done his graduation in Economics (Hons) from St. Stephens College, University of Delhi. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Mr. Sawhney is a veteran with more than 30 years of global experience in the Chemical and Pharmaceutical industries. He has held senior functional and management positions in several global pharmaceutical companies like Max – Gb, Hindustan Ciba – Geigy and Bayer India Limited.

Mr. Sawhney is one of the founder members of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) and has been an active member on the committees of the prestigious Indian Drug Manufacturer’s Association and Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association (India).
