RBS Announces Ellen Alemany as chairman of Citizens Financial Group

Edinburg, Scotland - March 5, 2009, Edinburg, Scotland - The Royal Bank of Scotland Group announced that Ellen Alemany, CEO of Citizens Financial Group and RBS Americas, has been named Chairman of the Board at Citizens Financial Group.

Ms. Alemany joined RBS Americas in June 2007 and became Chief Executive of Citizens Financial Group in March 2008. Last year, she was ranked 26th in Forbes' annual "100 Most Powerful Women List" and was also named by US Banker as one of its "25 Most Powerful Women in Banking." Ms. Alemany joined RBS Americas from Citigroup, where she had been CEO for Global Transaction Services (GTS), one of Citi's 12 publicly reported product lines. Alemany joined Citibank in 1987 and held various positions over the years, including Executive Vice President for the Commercial Business Group, President and CEO of CitiCapital and Executive Vice President and Customer Group Executive for the Global Relationship Bank in Europe. Ms. Alemany earned her M.B.A. with a specialization in finance from Fordham University in 1980. She serves as a representative on the Federal Advisory Council, directly consulting with and advising the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Financial Services Roundtable and The Clearing House Payments Comp
