Mr. Hooper is founder and partner in a venture capital firm based in Bellevue, Wash. He previously served as the CEO of AT&T Wireless/McCaw Cellular and was chairman and CEO of Nextlink and co-CEO of Teledesic with Craig McCaw. Mr. Hooper has been involved with Seattle University for nearly 20 years, where he has served as a trustee and board chair.
Mr. Truesdale is the CEO of Vitamin Shoppe, Inc., a national multichannel specialty retailer of nutritional products. He has 30 years of experience in retail including store operations, merchandising, supply chain and strategy development.
In addition, incumbent directors John Hamlin and Dagoberto Quintana were re-elected to new three-year terms.
Mr. Hamlin is president and managing partner of Bozeman Limited Partnership, a private equity firm based in Austin, Texas. Previously, he was an executive at Dell, Inc. He has served on the REI board since 2007 and has served two terms as board chair. The board also re-elected Mr. Hamlin for another year as chair and re-elected Cheryl Scott, senior advisor at the Gates Foundation, as vice chair.
Mr. Quintana was appointed to a one-year board term in 2011 and subsequently appointed to serve out the term of an elected board member who resigned. He is the president and chief executive officer of Sitel Worldwide Corporation, a global customer care provider headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. Prior to joining Sitel, Mr. Quintana held several executive roles at Dell, Inc., including vice president of U.S. consumer sales and service.
The REI board also appointed Matt Compton to a one-year term. Earlier in the year, the board also appointed Chloe Harford to fill a one-year term.
Mr. Compton is CEO of ShopIgniter, Inc., a Portland, Ore.-based company that provides businesses an enterprise social marketing platform. He is also an active participant and advisor in the Portland technology startup community. ■
